The main aim
of the multi-agency strategy on domestic abuse is the
reduction of domestic abuse and repeat victimisation
through prevention, provision and protection and justice.
Sub
groups were set up to work on the priorities for
actions detailed in the strategy. Members of the sub
groups include
people from the legal professions, the police, social
services, health, education, the city council and the
voluntary sector. |

Services – The
work of the services sub group includes
the development of a crisis response
service, looking into specialist provisions
for example for women with no recourse
to public funds, services for victims
with complex needs and services for
children. |

Perpetrators – The
perpetrators sub group is developing
work on perpetrator
programmes, perpetrator profiling and
challenging abusive behaviour. |

Communications– The
communications sub group looks at publicity
methods,
the development and promotion of printed
and electronic information and campaigning. |

Training – The
training sub group investigates multi
agency training
needs and provision as well as awareness
raising in organisations throughout Bristol. |

Education – The
education sub group aims to change and
improve attitudes amongst young people
and has developed an education pack, “Spiralling”,
for use in Bristol schools. |

Protection & Justice– The
protection and justice sub group aims to
evaluate domestic abuse prosecutions, make
performance information on domestic abuse
cases available to BDAF and identify areas
for improvement, review support services
for victims and look into the possibility
of a dedicated domestic violence court
in Bristol. |
