Bristol Domestic Abuse Forum, working with members of the Prevention Sub-Group, organises a number of campaigns aimed at raising awareness of domestic violence and abuse throughout the year.
This campaign focuses on Eliminate Violence Against Women and Girls Week around 25th November, and draws in anti-violence workers from the statutory and voluntary sectors, focusing on all types of violence against women, not just domestic violence.
2009's campaign opened with Bristol Feminist Network's EVAW wall in Stoke's Croft (below, thanks to Jan Martin for the picture), and finished with a conference aimed at raising awareness amongst decision-makers of the need for funding for services.

2010's campaign opened with a launch event, with speakers including Rape Crisis, the police's Operation Bluestone, and the City Council's Violence Against Women and Girls' Champion, as well as stalls from various agencies, a short DVD made by survivors in Bristol, and a display of survivor art work. It included the take-over of Bristol Temple Meads Station by men against violence (thanks to Sian Davies for the below image), and Next Link's annual candlelit vigil

This campaign usually focuses around Bristol's two big summer events, the Harbour Festival and the Balloon Fiesta, and is often targeted at young people.
In 2009, campaigners had a stall at the Harbour Festival where they gave away free tattoos promoting equal love and talked to young people about healthy relationships.

The 2010 once again focussed on violence and abuse within teenagers' romantic relationships, including producing a free, downloadable resource pack. For lots more information, including a copy of the pack go to the summer teen abuse campaign page.
In 2011, the campaign will focus partly on the Polish community, and partly on encouraging employers' to sign up to the domestic violence and abuse policy. More information will be added to this site as it comes.
This campaign usually focuses around Valentine's Day, when the number of incidents of domestic violence and abuse goes up, and International Women's Day on 8th March.
In 2009, this ran in conjunction with Bristol Safeguarding Adults team, who produced several posters about Elder Abuse
